They ranked third in the points table. They won 8 matches in the league tournament but lost against Kolkata Knight Riders in the Eliminator playoff.
SRH IPL 2018
This year, the IPL decided that teams could retain a maximum of 5 players because of the 2013 IPL betting scandal. Kane Williamson led the team as David Warner could not participate in the league tournament because of the Australian ball-tampering controversy. 2018 became one of the best seasons for SRH as they became runners-up in the season. They lost in the final match against Chennai Super Kings. They won a total of 10 matches and lost 7. Kane Williamson won the IPL Orange Cup with 735 runs.
SRH IPL 2019 – 2020
In 2022, David Warner was appointed as captain replacing Kane Williamson. The league ended without a win, with the team winning 8 matches and losing an equal number. They beat Royal Bangalore Challengers in the eliminator playoff but lost the qualifier to Delhi Capitals.

The most expensive cricketer in the team was Nicholas Pooran at Rs 10.75 crore from West Indies’ international cricket team. The team faced a major loss, with David Warner, Rashid Khan, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar leaving.
In 2021, SRH added Tom Moody as the team’s Director of cricket.
